Discipleship Groups

Trusting God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

Our discipleship groups are the primary means by which we encourage each other to grow as followers of Jesus who trust God, love our neighbor, and mentor others to do the same.

Discipleship Study – Winter/Spring 2017

This winter/spring we will be reading and studying, “Trusting God in Difficult Times through Isaiah.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Welcome to 2017!  I hope we all had a restful and worshipful Christmas season and are ready to re-engage our adult discipleship small group ministry. J  This winter and spring we will be studying together the book of Isaiah.  We will give the prophet’s message our attention in three ways: personal Bible reading, small group participation, and corporate worship.

Personal Bible reading: We will be reading five chapters per week.  Hopefully, we will find this pace challenging but possible.  The goal of personal Bible reading is to build the daily habit of giving our attention to God, learning to hear his voice through his Word, and also allowing him to hear ours through our response of prayer, “Abba, Father…”

Small group participation:  “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together,” says the author of Hebrews (10:24, 25).  The goal of small groups is to allow us to be genuinely connected as we experience with and through each other the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

Corporate worship: The Scripture is the centerpiece of Protestant worship; it is the book of the covenant that describes and prescribes our life together in Christ.  The sermons will be coordinated with the daily readings and small group discussions; additionally, our prayers and songs of worship will also reflect Isaiah’s message.  The goal of corporate worship is to demonstrate that we are all members of one body, functioning together for the common purpose of “declaring the praises of him who called us out of darkness and into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9).

Join us in this journey through the book of Isaiah.  Read daily, join or create a weekly small group, and come ready to worship the Lord every Sunday!  The study begins the week of January 29th and concludes the week of April 23rd.
